Hi. I need to pack my ice cream tubs this week and now things are getting real!!! Please give your recommendation of what has worked for you - and optional extras e.g. I just came off a week on the Amatola trail and my nightly little sachet of Amarula was a winner, as were nuts, droe wors and a snicker bar.
While in general life I avoid sugar - I have found over the years on strenuous events like IM or Joberg2C that I need my regular Gu's - especially as I struggle to eat real food - even half a baby potato is a push. That's at race pace and high intensity, though.
I'm planning 21 days - so most days have an interim "lunch" stop, right?
Any advice appreciated.

Purity sachets works well(mixed em up). Done 24hr race recently and discovered Purity is easy to consume as all your blood is in your legs and not stomach causing difficult to consume solids. Magnesium intake also important.🤞
Ice cream tubs?
Yep all the interim stops will have lunch or something to eat. If not using a re-hydrate I take CrampEase or CrampStop - one for every hour of riding, when drinking only water. Snickers are excellent as a snack, but max 1 mini one every 2 hrs. I found I got sick of Mars/Bar-One and they melted. Some kind of treat for each day - Amarula sounds interesting! Don't go overboardon the sweets/snaks, I found I got tired of eating after day 2. I am planning to pack some All Bran fibre for my breakfasts, too much carbs is not great for the stomach - but I have never tried this before - so I hope it does not backfire.
Also take a general antibiotic like Moxibay with you.
Agree on the savoury side and mixing snacks up,some guys even carry Tuna sachets/cheese triangles and provita type biscuits. no need for GU's, but some sort of powdered/tablet energy drink is always an idea. A few sachets of rehydrate Sport/or Drip Drop work. Medication, like sleeping pills, stomach/nausea and anti-inflammatory, bum cream/Zambuk, suncream (Island Tribe Stick every 5 days or so), VitaminC /Corenza C. Small toothpastes/brush/floss. And the obligatory Chocolate Milk in every tub. Some have small cokes and a tot of their favourite tipple. Also had hot chocolate sachets. And packets of crisps. Can make sarmies at interim and overnight stops.
Few bits of advice: Make sure biltong/dry wors is vacuum sealed. Degreaser "infects" all other food with its smell/flavour no matter how well sealed. Rather avoid Variation is good. you will get tired of snacks with 20 identical tubs After the first few days most people start to crave more savory snacks than sugary sweets There is often quite a lot of 'leftovers' from other riders and withdrawn riders so dont overpack and also good for mixing things up. Avoid liquids as leakage is catestrophic (for your tub and everyone else's) Seal your tub with coloured tape so easy to identify in pile of tubs on arrival at SS
